COI
Certificates of Inspection (COI)
A COI is a different inspection from a standard safety certificate, required for particular vehicle types and situations. Please confirm eligibility with us before booking.
Safety certificate
Needed mostly when selling or re-registering a registered light vehicle (up to 4.5 t GVM), including eligible trailers and caravans.
Certificate of Inspection
Required in specific cases, such as some heavy vehicles, buses, or vehicles that need inspection before registration. Requirements vary, so always check the Queensland Government guidance.
COI services are only offered for vehicle types covered by our approvals. Contact us and we'll tell you straight whether we can help.
Confirm the right inspection before booking
A COI is not interchangeable with a safety certificate. Vehicle class, use and registration circumstances determine what is required.
When you contact us, have the vehicle's make, model, registration details, GVM or ATM, and intended use ready. Let us know whether you're transferring registration, renewing it, or responding to an inspection notice.
We'll confirm whether the inspection falls within our approvals before arranging an appointment. Modified vehicles may require separate approvals or documentation; a COI is not a substitute for modification certification.
The inspection follows the applicable TMR requirements. Any items requiring attention are explained in the inspection outcome, along with the next steps relevant to your vehicle.
